William Penn, the founder of Philadelphia, had two aunts, who were renowned for their skill as bakers. One day Penn was petitioned by concerned citizens after the four bakeries in Philadelphia had raised the price of pies to the point where only the wealthy could afford to buy them. Not wanting to confront the bakeries, Penn instead approached his aunts, who were so angered by the situation that they offered to bake ten dozen pies themselves and to sell them for five cents less than the bakeries…
