A little later, a bald man not dissimilar in appearance to Michael Stipe sat down on the stool between my friend and I, and bellied up to the bar. My friend shot me a knowing look. This guy is Michael Stipe. Athens, GA is not too far from here and being in Asheville.. this situation is not a long shot. So, I summoned my courage, guzzled the last of my beverage and audibly swallowed past the lump in my throat. ""I know I don't have to ask this, but I'm going to anyway."" ""Go ahead. The bald man furrowed his brows and birthed a tense, pregnant silence. Finally, after averting his gaze from the side of my head and aiming it down at the bar in front of him, he answered..
