Lieutenant Dan has to deliver bad news. One day, from the office of the General of the Army comes a letter for Lieutenant Dan bearing bad news. Private John's wife had passed away in a horrible car accident. The General strongly suggested that breaking the news lightly to John would be course of action. Lieutenant Dan, with his ruthless rude attitude forged by strict old school army rules, confidently assures the General that everything will be done by the book. The following day, at 6.00 AM, all the privates line up. -Dan: ""- Private John, step forward!"" - *silence* -Dan: ""- Your wife is dead!"" John took the news very badly, he was very upset for months to come, practically becoming useless, and eventually leaving the army. The General was very upset for the way the news was handled, so he phones Dan. -General: ""That was is no way to deliver bad news Lieutenant! You have a chance to reclaim yourself. Unfortunately, Private William Glen's mother has passed away. Please let him know, but be more careful how you deliver the news this time, we don't want any more issues! "" -Dan: ""Will do General!"" The next day all privates are lining up again. Lieutenant Dan looks angry and worried, as if to deliver more bad news. -Dan: ""- Privates! Everyone whose mother is still alive step forward!"" -Dan: ""- Private Will, you can stand"" The private was also devastated. The news reached headquarters again, and the response from the General was not pleasing. Unfortunately there's been another incident involving private Jacks mother, who was brutally murdered, so scolding Lieutenant Dan would have to be postponed. He did let him know however that there will be consequences if he messes up delivering this unfortunate news to Jack. As always, Dan confidently reassures the General that he will take care of it. The very next day, very early in the morning, all the privates were called to the field. The privates were instantly concerned, suspecting more bad news. -Dan: ""- Privates! Today we dig trenches!"" Everyone quickly starts working hard, digging, with a sense of relief for the lack of bad news. -Dan: ""- Dig, Jack, dig! Maybe you'll find your mom!"" Jack was shocked and mortified at the realization of his mothers death. Jack was going through some hard times as it was, and this was the final breaking point for him, as he takes his gun and shoots himself. The General was furious now. He came personally to the army base to scold Lieutenant Dan for his incompetence in handling delicate situations. He decides though he deserves another chance, thanks to his impeccable records. His last chance would be to properly handle delivering the news to Jacks wife. This time however, the General himself will be accompanying him, to make sure he won't mess it up. As they're heading towards the house of Jacks wife, Dan is becoming increasingly worried; He's got no clue how to handle the situation. Time is ticking and no ideas are popping up in his head; They reach the house; Dan is keeping a cool face, but inside he's panicking; - *ding* Door bells sounds, Dan is clueless still. - *door opens* As a women opens the door Dans instincts kick in.. -Dan: ""- Jack Smiths widow?"" -Wife: ""- No, I'm his wife!!"" -Dan: ""-Wanna bet?""
