Furniture Delivery Hank is a furniture delivery man. Every day, he in employed by his company to carry sofas, tables, desk, chairs - you name it - all around town. Well, one day the ""Check Engine"" light in Hank's van turns on. Hank finds a nice little mechanic's garage nearby, and pulls in. The owner and mechanic, Federico, is a jovial man with a strong, thick Italian accent. He takes a look at Hank's van. ""Well-a you see-a, your oil-a is very low. I could-a do a change real quick-a, though."" Hank accepts, and begins to go for his wallet. ""No need,"" Federico says, ""First one is always on-a da house-a."" Federico starts working, and then proceeds to explain in detail how oil works in an engine, and why it wears out. He prints a sticker and places it inside Hank's windshield to remind him how often he should be coming back to change the oil, and explains the sticker while eagerly pointing at it. Hank is thrilled. It's been the best repair experience of his life, and he swears to always come back to the same shop whenever he needs work done on the van. So, he comes back a week later, and Federico has fallen sick, and has hired an assistant to work in the shop in his absence. Hank tells the guy that he needs an oil change for his van again. The assistant reads the sticker and explains to Hank that he's not due for at least another 3000 miles. ""Federico was very clear about when I should change the oil. Do it,"" Hank says. The shop assistant shrugs and gets to work. Hank repeats this about once or twice a week, according to when his deliveries take him back around the neighborhood. By the end of a month, he's had 7 oil changes done. Federico gets well again, and meets Hank in the shop one day when he comes in. He says to Hank, ""What are-a you doin'? I hear-a that you been in here almost every week-a!"" Hank says, ""I've just been following your instructions!"" ""How-a you figure that?"" Federico asks. Hank explains, ""When I first came to you, you changed my oil, and then pointed to my furniture van and said, 'Hank-a, you make sure-a you bring this back in-a for an oil change every so fa' (sofa)!'"" ---------- Thought it up the other day at dinner, but it really works better when spoken, because of the accent and the homophone at the end.
