One July a gentoo penguin was driving cross-country from Atlanta, Georgia to Santa Monica, California. Of course he had the air conditioner on full blast, because he was a penguin (they like it super cold in the car.) He made it all the way to Winslow, Arizona when the blower in the car started to blow warm air. Penguins don't like much heat, and he started to get a bit worried. He fiddled with the knobs, but nothing worked. The air was getting warmer and warmer. The sun was out, and he started to sweat (figuratively speaking). Gentoo penguins are particularly adapted to cold, harsh conditions, but the Arizona summer weather, not so much. He decided to stop in Flagstaff to get the air conditioner repaired. By the time he pulled into town, the car was nearly 90 degrees fahrenheit. The little penguin was hot. He found an auto repair shop whose sign promised quick air conditioning repair and pulled in. He explained to the mechanic his problem and was assured that he would be ice cold and back on the road in no time. The gentoo was delighted. The mechanic suggested that he walk across the street to an ice cream parlor (penguins love ice cream) and have a snack while he looked at the car. Our penguin friend was thrilled. He waddled his way across the street, his tail sticking out behind, sweeping from side to side, and found the most amazing assortment of ice cream flavors he'd ever seen. Of course he chose salted caramel. Gentoo penguins normally have a high salt diet, and the salted caramel ice cream was delicious. He ate it all up and made quite a mess on his face in the process. Even though the air conditioning in the ice cream shop felt really good, he waddled back across the street to see his car's status. As he walked in, the mechanic looked up and said, "looks like you blew a seal!" The penguin replied, "it's just ice cream."
